The Red Hats

What I didn’t tell you about those last hats, was that they were test hats. I made them to see how well the pattern worked, what needed adjusting in the instructions and other stuff like that. These hats, however, are the real deal. What I set out to create in the first place. The be-all and end-all. The-OKAY, you can stop now.

They are replicas(ish) of the hat that Paddington Bear wears. So, from the image on the DVD…

…came these two hats. One for my dolls:

and one for my Schleichs (modelled by Daffodil):

Side-by-side comparison:

The Schleich one is flatter and (obviously) smaller than the doll hat, but it doesn’t look bad on the horses. Which is good. 😀

Charlie (the girl) is discovering the beauty, grace and power of the horse. 😀

See ya!

Couldn’t believe it when I read your post today. Many moons ago, I travelled overseas and lived in Europe for almost two years. While there I met a lovely New Zealand girl named…Charlie, with long dark hair. On the same night I met her, we met a fellow called…Charlie. Since then they are always referred to as Charlie Boy and Charlie Girl. (Like in your post!) Charlie Girl was and is absolutely mad about horses, in fact when we got to know each other better, she showed me a small family album she carried with her (in the days before phones we carried the actual photos) and the first 9 photos were of her horses, only the last was her actual family. From memory her best horse was called Poppy, a flower name like your horse. I lost touch with Cahrlie Boy but Charlie Girl and I are still great fiends. What an amazing coincidence and what wonderful travelling memeories you’ve brought back. Thank you!!!
