Stable Updates

Last time you all saw the stable, it didn’t have interior walls yet. It has come quite a long way since then.

Not only does it have walls, but it also has chain stall guards:

and a bit of furniture waiting to go in. These were all made of popsicle sticks, and they’ve been stained to make them look more like proper wood.

I have two sets of hooks to go outside the stalls in the making, and they were also stained.

Gluing tiny wire hooks onto popsicle sticks is quite fiddly, because they don’t really like staying upright when the glue’s really wet!

I think this is one of the best parts of a project, when it’s just starting to come together. It’s very exciting!

Anyways, see ya!

Magazine Boxes

Sarah’s magazines have been getting a wee bit messy just loose on the shelf, so I made some magazine boxes for them.

IMG_2058_1

The box came from a Desktop Stables printable, and the model horse magazines and catalogue came with the template, so I thought I’d make those as well. Why not?

The boxes are made out of thick-ish scrapbook paper that had been languishing at the bottom of my paper tray for a while, and they have quite interesting colours and patterns on.

Much neater!

I realise now that the magazines I made a while ago are quite small for 1:9 scale. Eh, there are different sized magazines in the real world, so I’m not too bothered.

Many a pleasant afternoon has been spent flicking through magazines, and it’ll be much neater from now on. (There’s also another calendar background in the window as well – I love the effect!)

Anyways, see ya!

Book Swap Success

This week I went to a local book swap, and swapped three of my unloved books for three shiny, new-to-my-shelves books that I had read and loved.

IMG_2055_1

I am a big fan of Sarah J Maas’ work, after a friend introduced me to theĀ Throne of Glass series. Aren’t the covers beautiful?

IMG_2056_1

Even the spines are pretty.

I did a little re-arrange so they’d fit on the fantasy shelf, and I’m very pleased to have them.

See ya!

Finished Patches

The badges got their felt backings today…

The finished result:

I ended up pinning these three to the tote bag I re-vamped a while ago.

And the finished Slytherin crest:

Looks good, doesn’t it? I was originally thinking of wearing the badge with the scarf that’s below (which is greener in real life – almost like a sea green).

Although it could just as easily be worn on a lapel.

Anyways, see ya!

Project Roundup

I’ve finished the embroidery for the Slytherin badge, woohoo!

Here’s the colours done…

…backstitching in progress…

…and it’s finished!

IMG_2038_1

The badges are currently drying in the sun, and after they’re dry, I’ll cut them all out and sew felt and a safety pin onto the backs of each.

IMG_2039_1

I also finished covering the interior of the stable. I ended up choosing to do half the walls in cream and half in wood, which looks very classy.

The floors of the stables are covered in paper that looks sort of like bedding, and the parquet floor is for a little multipurpose room, to store tack and some seating and feed, if I can.

Anyways, see ya!
