Hats Off to Great Ideas

I made Sarah a cap that I finished this morning, and I think it suits her more than the sunhat I crocheted a while ago.

The pattern came from this book I borrowed from the library, though I did have to make it a little smaller, as Barbies are larger than Sarah.

Of course, BB8 wanted to try it on, and Sarah obliged…

It might be useful for keeping water out of the droid’s electronics, especially as it looks like it’s going to rain.

How adorable does BB8 look? This may be one of Sarah’s best ideas yet.

Anyways, see ya!

Sword Polishing

I finished the old sword I was freshening up last weekend.

I wrapped the hilt with dark brown ribbon to look like leather, made the centre diamond shiny with glitter, and sealed all the paperboard bits, to make it more durable.

I believe I based it off Wonder Woman’s sword, but I really can’t be sure. I made it a very long time ago, and it really needed the fresh coat of paint!

Thankfully (or sadly), it doesn’t talk like Jack does from Magnus Chase. There’s enough loud, expressive personalities in one room without a talking sword as well, I think!

Project Roundup

In-between projects, I usually check over my previous makes and perform maintenance or give them updates, as I’m currently doing with this sword I made a long time ago.

The blade is getting definition, I’m freshening up the crossbar on the hilt, and I might wrap the hilt in leather, or change its colour. I’ll also seal it, which will make it more durable in the future.

I’m also designing a few embroidery patterns, mostly with quotes from books or music at the moment.

The one above is from The Greatest Showman‘s soundtrack, which I’ve been listening to pretty much on repeat at the moment, it’s so good!

I’m designing them all to fit in the small hoop in the second picture, however as I only have one hoop and two designs (at the moment!) I want to put in it, I have a hard decision ahead of me!

How has your crafting been going lately? Any tough decisions?

Anyways, see ya!

Still Building

A sore wrist has halted crafting for a little while, so this is about as far as I’ve gotten with the doll. But, it has given me plenty of time to think about how I’ll construct the head, which is good!

IMG_2719_1

These are various foot patterns. Bottom left is what I got from Sarah’s feet, top left is the pattern for Sarah’s feet upsized a little, both of which were too small for the bottom of the leg. Thus, the right is the foot pattern I used to attach the foot below…

IMG_2720_1

Which was slightly wonky, and on the wrong leg. Oops!

IMG_2721_1

That’s better.

In between attaching the feet and attaching the torso, I completely forgot to take pictures, but this is about how far I’ve gotten so far.

You can see the effects of the pipe-cleaner-and-straw skeleton here, which works quite well! I may need to modify the thumbs on the arm pattern, as I wanted them to be opposable, but that may be a bit complex at this scale.

Anyways, see ya!

Wrapping It Up

There’s a new dish being offered at the Three Broomsticks!

IMG_2722_1

I mean, it could be a dish. I’ve eaten it as a dish before.

IMG_2723_1

I made a version of the wraps with meat, tomato, lettuce (or spinach, or kale, though it’s probably a bit light for those. But hey, imagination!), cheese, and sour cream or mayonnaise.

IMG_2729_1

The vegetarian option has everything except the meat.

IMG_2727_1

Like I said earlier, it can be a dish…

…or it can be eaten on the go. I wonder what food I could make next, I’m thinking some sort of bread or croissant from rolled or plaited paper.

Anyways, see ya!
